JESUS AND EMILY knees ...

The day before his death, Jesus began to wash the feet of his disciples, knees, because he understood that he was in a divine mystery in every person.

That Emily understood and has committed the act of serving the needy of his time, recognizing in them the presence of God, especially among the forgotten of his company. Aware of the reality around him, it was moved by his compassion and recognizing the human dignity, she knelt .

For Jesus like Emily, is a deep relationship with God through prayer, the spaces of silence, listening, loyalty to the spirit and moments of intimacy with their inner being that has made them more sensitive to the presence of God in them, pushed them to the mercy and made them realize the love that service the residents, showing them in this mission to be the Face of God among his people.

AND WE? We are called to be beings of prayer in deep relationship with God and our brothers and sisters, especially the most marginalized in our society, to restore their dignity as persons.

Saint Nectarios of Aegina is undoubtedly among the saints of the most loved and most revered of Orthodox Church of the twentieth century. The Bishop of Pentapolis, the Healer of Aegina, is very popular not only in Greece but also among the Orthodox West, where his cult was very widespread. This mainly because her many intercessions and countless miraculous healings. Having suffered much patience for the love of Christ, slander, contempt and scorn, he learned to be compassionate for the suffering of those who trust in him. His catechesis borrow any profound simplicity, shows us how he is close to our spiritual concerns, particularly those of the smallest and humblest of us.
St. Nectarios was born on 1 st October 1846 to Silyvria in Thrace, near the Sea of Marmara, in a modest family and Kefalas. He was given the name of Anastasius. At age 14, he comes to work and continue his education at Constantinople. In 1866 he left the capital, Constantinople, to go on the island of Chios work as a teacher. There he became a monk at the monastery of Nea Moni at the age of thirty.
Three years after the monastic tonsure, he was ordained deacon, he received the name Nektarios. In 1885 he graduated from the University of Athens. During his years Studies at the University of Athens, he wrote several books, pamphlets, and Bible commentaries. Subsequently, he won the Cairo and Alexandria, Egypt, where he was ordained priest and served the church of St. Nicolas in Cairo with great distinction. In recognition of his piety and his ability to be a brilliant preacher and administrator, he was appointed bishop of the Metropolitan Pentapolis, a former episcopal see of Cyrenaica (in modern Libya), the Greek Orthodox Patriarch Sophronios in 1889. He served the church as a bishop for a year in Cairo but was unjustly removed from office. Jealous and horribly maligned because of the sympathy he won from the Orthodox people, he must leave Egypt. Patriarch Sophronios refuses to listen and expelled out of Egypt without trial or explanation, without giving him the opportunity to defend himself. After his expulsion, he returned to Greece in 1891 and spent several years as a preacher (1891-1894). It was then, for 15 years, the school principal Ecclesiastical Rizarios for the education of priests in Athens where his service was exemplary. He developed many curricula and wrote many books, while preaching through Athens. In 1904, at the request of several of his disciples who wanted to become nuns, he established a monastery for them on the island of Aegina. He was named the Monastery of the Holy Trinity. In December 1908, at age 62, St. Nectarios resigned his seat of principal and retired to the Monastery of the Holy Trinity of Aegina, where he lived as a monk the rest of his life. He wrote, published, preached and heard confessions of those who came from near and far to enjoy his spirituality. While he was at the monastery, he also looked after the gardens, carried stones and helped with construction financed by its own funds. St. Nectarios died on the evening of November 9, 1920 at the age of 74, following hospitalization for prostate cancer. His body was transported to the Monastery of the Holy Trinity where he was buried by a monk named Sava, who would later painted the first icon of St. Nectarios. A multitude of people came from Greece and Egypt to attend his funeral. Here are some sentences from the writings of our Fathers Saints

Seeking God every day. But seeks it in your heart, not outside. And when you find it, stand with fear and trembling, like the cherubim and seraphim, because your heart has become a throne of God. However, to find God, become humble as dust before the Lord because the Lord does not stand proud, while he visits those who are humble in their heart, that's why he said: "The one I watch, is one who is gentle and humble of heart ". (Saint Nectarios of Aegina).

Sacred Tradition is the Church itself, without Tradition Sacred Church does not exist. Those who deny the sacred tradition deny the Church and the preaching of the apostles.
Before writing the Scriptures, that is to say, sacred texts of the Gospels, Acts and Epistles of the Apostles, and before they have been scattered to the world's churches, the Church was based on Sacred Tradition. (Saint Nectarios of Aegina).

The holy men of God who have been magnified by the Lord on earth, were honored by the Holy Church of God from the very beginning when it was founded by Christ the Savior. (Saint Nectarios of Aegina).

" My brothers, I I studied for fifty years many books on the Hebrews, the ancient Greeks, the ungodly and heretics, seeking wisdom everywhere and I found that all beliefs are false, except ours, Christian orthodoxe,et sainte ». (Saint Kosmas d'Etolie).

« How are you? Do you love among you? If you want to save you, not seek anything else in the world that love . (Saint Kosmas of Aetolia).

" should know a priest is more than an angel, because he is the mediator between God and man and he is given the grace to do the liturgy, the angels gaze with trembling . (Saint Kosmas of Aetolia).

"My Son, if you come to serve the Lord, prepare yourself to the test. Do yourself a heart right arm yourself with courage, do not be driving at times of adversity." (Saint Nectarios of Aegina).

Thyroid Conditio_symptoms

A FIGURE emerges

the early 19th century, in the years 1836-1837, years of disorder in French Canada, while men are weapons, some of them were captured, of other publicly hanged or banished or deported, women are fighting social, humanitarian and generous charitable . Among them, a figure emerges, that of Emilie Tavernier Gamelin.

Married in 1823, mother of three sons she lost in a few years, a widow after only 4 years of marriage! That's a lot of dead in no time!

Emily turned to Lady of Sorrows experienced the death of his Son at the foot of the Cross. Now more and more clearly is to relieve the suffering of others that Emily will be studying. She takes care of the idiot Dodais that her husband has bequeathed a token of their love, she visited the poor and gives assistance to the needs it meets.

Poverty is rampant, problems of abandoned mothers, old lonely, bring Emily to open a shelter on St-Laurent, Montreal, for women sick, elderly and others, beggars, vagrants. She is personally involved but also solicits donations from her friends of bourgeois society. The solidarity of women exceeds affiliations, political opinion, language or religion. Emily is also the habit of visiting political prisoners in the prison Au Pied du Courant. Known guards prison, she can bring food, clothing, family news, letters.

With Emily, we need learn to love and serve the suffering humanity starting with the poorest, they are prisoners, abandoned children, mothers left alone or forgotten old. Emily has made her life a living available to love and serve others . She built her life in a troubled time. It was drained in its wake other families and it is thanks to them that our ancestors taste for life again and looked up. May their memory renews our hope!
