Γεννήθηκε τὴν 1 η Ὀκτωβρίου τοῦ 1846 στὴ Σηλυβρία τῆς Θράκης ἀπὸ τὸν Δῆμο καὶ τὴν Βασιλικὴ Κεφάλα and was the fifth of six children. His secular name was Anastasios.
Small, 14 years, went to Constantinople, where he worked As an employee and then as paidonomias school in dependency of the Holy Sepulchre. Then he went to Chios, where, since 1866 until 1876 served as Elementary Litheio village. In 1876 he became a monk at the Monastery of Nea Moni named Lazarus and 15 January 1877 he was ordained deacon, named Nektarios, Metropolitan of Chios, Gregory (1860 - 1877), and took over the secretariat of the Metropolis.

Τὸ 1904 ἵδρυσε γυναικεία Μονὴ στὴν Αἴγινα, τῆς ὁποίας ἀνέλαβε προσωπικὰ τὴν διοίκηση, ἀφοῦ ἐγκαταβίωσε ἐκεῖ τὸ 1908, μετὰ τὴν παραίτησή του ἀπὸ τὴ Ριζάρειο Σχολή.

St. Nectarios was born on 1 st October 1846 to Silyvria in Thrace, near the Sea of Marmara, in a modest family and Kefalas. He was given the name of Anastasius. At age 14, he comes to work and continue his education at Constantinople. In 1866 he left the capital, Constantinople, to go on the island of Chios work as a teacher. There he became a monk at the monastery of Nea Moni at the age of thirty.
Three years after the monastic tonsure, he was ordained deacon, he received the name Nektarios. In 1885 he graduated from the University of Athens. During his years Studies at the University of Athens, he wrote several books, pamphlets, and Bible commentaries. Subsequently, he won the Cairo and Alexandria, Egypt, where he was ordained priest and served the church of St. Nicolas in Cairo with great distinction. In recognition of his piety and his ability to be a brilliant preacher and administrator, he was appointed bishop of the Metropolitan Pentapolis, a former episcopal see of Cyrenaica (in modern Libya), the Greek Orthodox Patriarch Sophronios in 1889. He served the church as a bishop for a year in Cairo but was unjustly removed from office. Jealous and horribly maligned because of the sympathy he won from the Orthodox people, he must leave Egypt. Patriarch Sophronios refuses to listen and expelled out of Egypt without trial or explanation, without giving him the opportunity to defend himself. After his expulsion, he returned to Greece in 1891 and spent several years as a preacher (1891-1894). It was then, for 15 years, the school principal Ecclesiastical Rizarios for the education of priests in Athens where his service was exemplary. He developed many curricula and wrote many books, while preaching through Athens. In 1904, at the request of several of his disciples who wanted to become nuns, he established a monastery for them on the island of Aegina. He was named the Monastery of the Holy Trinity. In December 1908, at age 62, St. Nectarios resigned his seat of principal and retired to the Monastery of the Holy Trinity of Aegina, where he lived as a monk the rest of his life. He wrote, published, preached and heard confessions of those who came from near and far to enjoy his spirituality. While he was at the monastery, he also looked after the gardens, carried stones and helped with construction financed by its own funds. St. Nectarios died on the evening of November 9, 1920 at the age of 74, following hospitalization for prostate cancer. His body was transported to the Monastery of the Holy Trinity where he was buried by a monk named Sava, who would later painted the first icon of St. Nectarios. A multitude of people came from Greece and Egypt to attend his funeral. Many people regarded St. Nectarios as a saint during her life because of his prayer life, his humility, his purity and other virtues of his writings and for the miracles that it has caused.
